Jim Bradley is a veteran IT executive with more than 35 years experience leading information technology organizations. He has served as a CIO three tines and leads a consulting practice for JANB Solutions. Jim is married to the amazing Bunny Bradley and has two tremendous and accomplished daughters, both married to wonderful men. He enjoys as much time as he can with his beloved four grandchildren.
Jim earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law and has been a member of the State Bar of Texas since 1998. He holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from the University of St. Thomas in Houston where he was a member of Delta Mu Delta honor society. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Houston, where he is a life member of the UH Alumni Association.
Jim is a 2019 Fellow of the Association of Governing Boards Institute for Leadership and Governance and a 2013 CLIR and Educause Leading Change Institute Fellow. He serves on the Chronicle of Higher Education’s Leadership Board of CIOs, and the University of Houston’s Digital Media Program Advisory Board and has also been a member of the Forbes Technology Council.
He recently finished serving his third term on the board of the Lonestar Education and Research Network (LEARN), which provides research and education networks to Texas higher education and others affiliates. He has been a co-PI on two successful National Science Foundation grant applications. He previously served on the advisory board for the Center for Higher Education Chief Information Officer Studies (CHECS) and the Fort Worth IT Symposium, and AIR-Houston. He has chaired the Educause Professional Development Committee and co-chaired the Strategy and Planning Community Group.
In his career, Jim has served as the Chief Information Officer at Sam Houston State University, Trinity University and the University of Texas at Arlington and has served in senior leadership roles for Tulane University and the University of Houston where he also served as an adjunct professor teaching technology, database and Web topics. He began working in information technology in higher education in 1983 as a student at the UH Computing Center. He has also served in corporate roles for Bechtel and H-E-B.
Jim has served on numerous committees and special assignments as well as volunteer and community service activities. He has also been a regular presenter and an active contributor to Educause, LEARN, and Internet2 He served the Spring Branch Independent School District on it’s Long Range Facilities Planning Committee as well as serving as President of his homeowner’s association.
